Citizen Bike has teamed up with the Metropolitan Transportation
Authority of the State of New York to create the MTA MetroBike™, the first MTA-licensed folding bicycle. MTA serves 8.5 million transit
rides each weekday on its trains and buses, including the New York City
Subway.
The MetroBike™ will be available for viewing at the New York Transit
Museum's Gallery Annex and Store at Grand Central Terminal and for sale online
directly from Citizen Bike. Sales of the MetroBike™ help support the Museum's programs.
The MTA MetroBike™, outfitted with colorful and reflective MTA subway route symbols for increased visibility, is a lightweight folding bicycle designed for practical commuting with 20 inch wheels, a rear storage rack, fenders and a 6-speed gear system.
When folded, the MetroBike™ is easy to carry onto a train or bus. Folding bikes are allowed onboard all MTA trains and buses (except express coaches) without restriction, 24 hours a day.
When not in use, the MTA MetroBike™ fits nicely even into the smallest New York City apartment.
The MTA MetroBike™ is available for $299 plus shipping and handling.
Folding bicycles were traditionally considered specialty bikes with a price tag to match. Citizen Bike is challenging that perception with its line of affordable bicycles, including the MTA MetroBike™.
Citizen Bike aims to deliver simple, attractive, and affordable transportation solutions tailored to an individual's commuting needs. In order to deliver incomparable value to its customers, Citizen Bike sells their folding bikes directly from their online store (http://www.citizenbike.com). The bikes ship out daily and arrive on the customer's doorstep in a matter of days. Customers just unpack, unfold and are ready to ride. With a motto of "going and being human," Citizen Bike offers transportation solutions that are practical, affordable and fun.
MTA is the largest public transportation provider in the Western Hemisphere. Its agencies move more than 2.6 billion rail and bus customers a year in the New York City metropolitan region.
The MTA MetroBike is available for purchase from Citizen Bike's online store. It will also be available for viewing at the New York Transit Museum Gallery Annex and Store at Grand Central Terminal.
